Samantha asks: What is the best type of antibloat medication for PMS, and what can you advise for cramps? Mine are really painful!
I would suggest that Samantha alters her diet as much as possible. Avoid adding too much additional salt (in cooking and at the table), eat fresh food and avoid ready prepared meals which have too many additives, try not to have meals that have smoked meats (i.e. bacon), smoked fish or smoked cheese as these encourage fluid retention. She should also wear comfortable clothes that are not too tight at this time of the month (elasticated waistbands and a supportive bra are ideal). If all else fails then she could see her GP about a mild diuretic but they are not the ideal answer. As for the menstrual cramps - Nurofen is usually good. If they don`t help then again she should see her GP for a prescription for Mefenamic Acid (Ponstan).
