GL author joins NAPS as Trustee

Nigel Denby, author of the GL Diet and registered dietitian and nutrition consultant, is joining NAPS as a Trustee.
Following the successful launch of his first book Diet Freedom-the GL Diet in January 2005, Nigel has now written five further books including the 7 day GL diet and Nutrition for Dummies.
According to Nigel, “Women suffering from PMS, menopause and other hormone imbalances are often keen to try diet and lifestyle interventions for symptom relief. There is a huge range of unproven and unrealistic potions, remedies and diets which promise to be the "magic wand for women's health.” He stresses that a healthy diet and lifestyle is the most important foundation for general health with the concept of carbohydrate management linked to a range of health benefits.
“The GL diet combines the best aspects of carbohydrate management with a healthy diet and lifestyle. Many women have found the plan to be a practical way of improving their weight, food cravings, mood swings and other hormone imbalances. The GL diet is not a here today, gone tomorrow fad and is increasingly recognised by health professionals, health agencies and charities as the way forward for people who want to make simple, positive changes to improve their health and wellbeing,” he says.
As well as writing books, Nigel runs his own private practice in Harley Street specialising in weight management, PMS / Menopause, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and food intolerance. He is a member of the expert panel for the Nutrition and Health show, a spokesman for the British Dietetic Association, and consumer dietetic advisor for Complete Nutrition magazine.
He works extensively with the media, writing for the Sunday Telegraph Magazine, Zest, Essentials and Somerfield Magazine and acts as nutrition expert for www.closerdiets.com. His work in radio and television includes BBC and ITN news programmes, Channel 4’s ‘Fit Farm’, BBC Breakfast, Real Story and Tonight with Trevor McDOnald. In 2006 the Food Standards Agency DVD “Eatwell” featuring Nigel won a Silver Screen award at the US International Film and Video awards.
His dietetic career began as a Research Dietician at the Human Nutrition Research Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. After a period working as a Community Dietician, Nigel left the NHS to join Boots Health and Beauty Experience where he led the delivery and training of Nutrition and Weight Management services. Three years ago, he set up his own Nutrition consultancy, delivering a clinical service to Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital Women’s Health Clinic and the International Eating Disorders Centre in Buckinghamshire as well as acting as Nutrition Consultant for the Childbase Children’s Nursery Group.
