Personal stories wanted

2 Mar 2007

NAPS has been contacted by a features writer based in Edinburgh who is looking for case studies to include in an article on PMS.

Sally Wilson writes for the UK’s top selling weekly and monthly magazines including Reveal, Woman, Take a Break, Love It and national newspapers such as the Daily Mail and Daily Mirror.

She will particularly be looking at one of the greatest frustrations PMS sufferers face - society not taking the condition seriously. This is a chance for you to help raise awareness of the condition and of how NAPS has helped you.

Sally would like to find out when you first realised you had a serious condition and how friends and family reacted to that? How has PMS affected your relationships with people? Have you ever lashed out at loved ones? Have you ever felt driven to suicide or to self-harm by your condition? What unique ways have you found to help with PMS?

If you’re between 20-40 and are happy talking about any of these issues or if you’d just like a little more information on what’s involved in telling your story, Sally would love to talk to you.

The interview would initially involve a brief chat over the phone to find out more about your individual story and give you the opportunity to ask any questions. If you decide you’d like to proceed with doing a story from there, Sally would then work to place your story with her contacts unless you’d like her to approach your favourite magazine or newspaper exclusively. The magazines in particular offer fees to interviewees to thank them for taking the time and trouble to share their stories and Sally would come back to you with the offer/s so you can decide which one you would like to appear in. A longer interview would then take place.

There is no initial commitment, and you are under no obligation should you change your mind.

Sally Wilson can be contacted at: Ferguson Features, Unit 250, 44-46 Morningside Road, Edinburgh, EH10 5GJ. If you prefer, you can contact NAPS direct and we will put you in touch.
