NAPS MOURNS THE PASSING OF PAT TRACEY
‘One of life's unsung heroines'
NAPS receives the sad news of the death of Pat Tracey 21st December 2008
‘We can't let the women down' was Pat's immediate response to the problem faced by NAPS at the beginning of this year. Never mind that she had faced numerous orthopaedic operations since 1992, had MRSA three times and finally had to have a leg amputated in 2006; she was totally committed to helping all those who sought advice from NAPS, for she knew, as an ex sufferer herself, just how important it was to know that there is support and treatment available, to alleviate what, for so many women, is a devastating condition.
Pat had been a member of NAPS for many years serving on the Executive Committee until quite recently, co-ordinating the Helpline and then from the beginning of this year co-ordinating the ‘Ask the Experts' service. Anyone who had the good fortune to seek advice from Pat, received kind , well-informed and sympathetic understanding. She never forgot what it was like to have suffered PMS and this was evident in the wonderful work she did on behalf of sufferers.
Nick Panay NAPS Chairman says of Pat:
‘Pat Tracey selflessly devoted many years of her life to NAPS to help the cause of PMS sufferers. Her work with the Helpline and ‘Ask the Experts' was of crucial importance. She will be sorely missed by the NAPS team.'
It is hard to believe that Pat will no longer be part of the working life of NAPS but her legacy of devotion to the welfare of PMS sufferers, should be an inspiration to future generations, to follow her example.
We extend our sympathies to Terry, Pat's husband, who over the years has been a tremendous support to Pat in her work for NAPS and to John, her son and his family.
As Peggy Pryer, ( past NAPS Secretary ) posted on the Forum,
‘Thousands of PMS sufferers have been helped over the years by Pat. She was one of life's unsung heroines ‘
