Dr. Carrie Sadler reports:
This event was well attended by a variety of health professionals. Ten pharmaceutical companies kindly contributed to the costs for the day.The morning was chaired by Mr Nick Panay and the afternoon by Dr Carrie Sadler.
The morning session was opened by Shaughn o’Brien, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Keele University School of Medicine who gave feedback from the International Society for Premenstrual Disorders on current
opinion about the definition of PMS.
Two of our local gynaecologists kindly agreed to contribute. Mrs Vani Lingham, Consultant Gynaecologist from Queens Hospital, Burton gave an overview of Urogynaecology and Mr Charles Redman, Consultant Gynaecologist, University
Hospital, North Staffordshire an update on cervical screening and the HPV immunisation programme.
Trustees of NAPS delivered the remaining talks which included an update on contraception, hormone replacement therapy, complementary therapies in gynaecology and sex, contraception and PMS.
The evaluations of the talks, venue and catering were excellent. The day generated lively discussion and debate around a number of women’s health issues. Specific comments in the feedback included:
