Mr Nicholas Panay BSc MRCOG MFFP

Chairman of the National Association for Premenstrual Syndrome
Nick Panay initially trained as a general obstetrician and gynaecologist. He performed his research into the treatment of progestogen intolerance in women using HRT for treatment of the menopause and PMS with John Studd at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He then qualified as a sub-specialist in reproductive medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and is currently a consultant gynaecologist at The Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust.
He has a specific interest in problems related to the menopause and premenstrual syndrome and is head of the Menopause and PMS centre at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in London. The centre provides a comprehensive clinical service as well as training and research in menopause and PMS related fields.
He joined NAPS as a trustee and was elected chairman in 2001. He believes that the way to provide better care for the PMS sufferer is through improved training of health professionals.
Gilly Andrews RGN, ENB AO8, ENB 8103

Clinical Nurse Specialist in Family Planning at King’s College Hospital, London and Nurse Specialist in the Menopause at The Lister Hospital, London and a council member of the British Menopause Society.
Gilly lectures and facilitates at conferences both nationally and internationally, and is a frequent contributor to many nursing journals with articles on contraception, the menopause, HRT and PMS. Editor of a comprehensive textbook for nurses, "Women’s Sexual Health", the third edition of which was published in 2005.
Ms (Dr) Annie Hawkins BSc MRCOG DFFP

Annie is a Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North West Thames. She was previous Research Fellow with Professor Studd at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where she spent three years researching into hormones, premenstrual syndrome and menopause and how these impact on sexuality. She is also a Member of the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine.
Carol Davis BSc(Hons) Phytotherapy and BSc(Hons) Lon Botany
Carol is a fully qualified herbal practitioner working in the Dulwich Medical Centre in South London. She has a degree in herbal medicine having completed a four year course with the College of Phytotherapy that included 500 hours of clinical training. She is a director of the Archway Clinic of Herbal Medicine, which provides the clinical training for students of herbal medicine at Middlesex University.
Carol is a member of the following professional bodies:
· National Institute of Medical Herbalists
· The College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy
Both bodies promote a high standard of training, practice and professionalism. Carol participates in the programmes of continuing professional development offered by both organisations.
Dr Carrie Sadler GP and research specialist

Working in Derbyshire, with a special interest in women's health and research.
Until August 2005 Carrie worked as an Associate Specialist in Reproductive Health and as a Research Fellow in Southampton This culminated in her taking a post in the Southampton Contraception and Sexual Health Service, with clinical and management responsibility. A Research Training Fellow at the University of Southampton, she taught a wide range of health professionals, including GP’s pharmacists and nurses, on women’s health issues. She provides clinical education on PMS, HRT and contraception.
Within her research post, Carrie concentrated on a major study that focused on the
association between PMS and lifestyle, securing funding from the BUPA Foundation to
follow that to completion.
Gaynor Bussell
Gaynor Bussell is a qualified State Registered Dietitian and an honours graduate in Nutrition. She currently works as the Nutrition Manager for the Food and Drink Federation, based in Covent Garden, but still retains some of her women’s health nutrition work.
Previously Gaynor worked both privately, as a visiting lecturer to two universities, and in the NHS, focusing mostly on women’s health, allergies and eating disorders. Gaynor has been the dietary advisor to NAPS for the last 8 years and has also been a NAPS trustee.
Gaynor has also worked as a Press Officer to the Medical Research Council and PR Adviser to the British Dietetic Association. For 6 years Gaynor worked as a specialist Women’s Health Dietitian, which included covering a PMS clinic and carrying out research. Whilst in this post she wrote several papers and abstracts and received several prestigious awards.
She is included in the "Who’s Who in Science and Engineering" for her ground-breaking work in women’s health.
Susan Quilliam
Susan is a relationship psychologist, agony aunt, broadcaster , author and consultant. Her academic involvement includes being both a member of the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care; member of the Advisory Board of the Primary Care Erectile Dysfunction Society
Professor John Studd
Patron of The National Association for Premenstrual Syndrome
Professor John Studd is a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Emeritus Professor of Gynaecology at Imperial College. He recently received the prestigious Khon Foundation Award for his “outstanding contribution in the field of Osteoporosis”. He is a member and past chairman of the British Menopause Society.
Professor Studd has a long working experience of menstrual health research, beginning when he started the first menopause clinic in Birmingham in 1969. In addition to his research interest in menopause symptoms, Professor Studd has pioneered a number of groundbreaking treatments. He championed the use of hormone implants for women with osteoporosis or with severe depressive or sexual problems after the menopause, and the now almost routine route of HRT after hysterectomy. He was the first to prescribe the use of oestrogen patches and implants for the treatment of PMS.
Professor Studd has written more than 500 scientific articles and written or edited more than 25 post-graduate books on gynaecology.
He is Founder and a past Vice-President of the National Osteoporosis Society and was a Council Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists for many years and is also a Past-President of the Section of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Society of Medicine.
Dr. Claudine Domoney
NAPS trustee.
Dr Domoney is currently the Specialist Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South West Thames and previously a Research Fellow at Chelsea and Westminster. Dr Domoney has a special research interest in PMS and the Menopause involving both traditional and complementary approaches. Currently Dr Domoney is involved in completing several important PMS studies. As a PMS research doctor she is deeply committed to supporting both women sufferers and health professionals in gaining a better understanding of the Syndrome.
Dr. Domoney is active in establishing local groups to support those affected by PMS , improving the referral facilities available and working with sufferers and primary care nurses and doctors
Nigel Denby
NAPS Trustee
Following the successful launch of his first book ‘Diet Freedom-the GL Diet’ in January 2005, Nigel has now written five further books including " The 7 day GL Diet".
As well as writing books Nigel runs his own private practice in Harley Street specialising in weight management, PMS/Menopause, irritable bowel syndrome and food intolerance. He is a member of the expert panel for the Nutrition and Health show, spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association, and a consumer dietetic adviser for "Complete Nutrition" magazine.
